Robert Gasser was born in Sion (Switzerland) on April 4th, 1958.

He made his first instrument at thirteen years old and, after his studies, he came to Cremona in 1975, where he attended the International School of Violinmaking and he got the degree in 1979.

After attending several violinmaking workshops, he decided, in contact with musicians, to keep going on making classical quartet instruments.

With an experience of twenty years and instruments all over the world, he still continues making violins, violas and cellos in his workshop in Cremona following the classical Cremonese tradition (Stradivari, Guarneri, Guadagnini and Bergonzi).

In the last years he has perfected his knowledge of antique Italian instruments, he has found a marvellous original violin of Enrico Ceruti that is exhibited in Palazzo Comunale of Cremona with the Collection of the Municipality (Stradivari, Guarneri, Amati, Ceruti).

Moreover he has brought a beautiful Antonio Stradivari cello 1698 to the same Museum where it was displayed for ten days and played by the first solo cello player of the Scala of Milan in the Ponchielli Theatre in Cremona (city theatre).
